| I've heard some stories from friends who tried to take their pets overseas, only to have them quarantined the whole time. I'm pretty sure that if you don't have everything exactly right, they will quarantine your pets for up to 3 months in Europe. Has anyone ever heard of this? |

Pet quarantine rules depend on country of origin, destination, type of pet, and even age of pet. For example, New Zealand has a 30 day quarantine on pets coming from the USA and Canada. If you're going to Sardinia, an island off the coast of Italy with a big US Naval base, there is no quarantine. The UK has a six month quarantine, but there are ways to get around it through something called the PETS program. Your best bet is to check the rules for your desired country. Google can be useful here, I tried

| In Japan it's like 4 weeks. Pretty sad if you ask me. Get a pet-sitter and save your beloved pets the stress! |
