| One of my worst experiences was trying to find a hotel room in Montreal during the Grand Prix. We had a flight out the next morning at 7 am. The few hotels we could find that were available were over $200 USD per night. Everything was booked, and what remained was very expensive. All we needed was few hours of sleep. Our solution: We spent the night at the airport in those uncomfortable adjoining chairs! |

Interesting article in one of our newspapers not long ago stated that the families of Australian athletes who will be competing in the Athens Olympics are unable to find accommodation as the prices are so over-inflated. I remember when they held the Olympics in Sydney, there were reports of people intending on spending that period away while renting out their homes at up to $1000.00 AUD per day. Don't know if it ever eventuated but goes to show how 'enterprising' some people are. |

It certainly happened here in Atlanta when we had the Olympics. Many people rented their houses and went on vacation. |
