...the Opera House, The Harbour Bridge, Bondi Beach, Taronga Zoo, Koalas, Kangaroos, The Blue Mountains (Katoomba), The Outback.

For sunlovers beaches abound all up and down the East Coast and away from the big cities. A drive south of Sydney will reveal many of them which are beautiful; especially for photographers and nature enthusiasts. For wine lovers, drive to Mudgee which is four hours west of Sydney. There's plenty of vineyards and they're famous for their honey too. Outdoors types will find many great walking tracks of varying lengths and difficulty in and out of the Sydney metropolitan area. National Parks surround Sydney and many are very accessible. Many of these may also reveal diverse and interesting flora and fauna like Kookaburras, Wallabies and Wattles. Sydney, like much of Australia , is a sporting nation. So why not watch a game of Rugby League or Aussie Rules; it'll leave you confused but at least you'll see something different to your own nations' past times. These are just a few things but I could go on.

I came, I saw, I loved it.

I lived for about 6 months in Brisbane and a year in Melbourne, and had the opportunity to travel around Tasmania, along the east coast, the Whitsundays, Keppel Island, Fraser, Straddie, Sydney, etc. And also Perth, and south western WA. I loved it, and if there's a place where I would love to live, this is it.

Hiya effisk... and welcome to the Travel Forums! :D

So, of all those places, which were your favorites and why? If you could only visit one which would you choose/recommend? Also, if you could go live there where would you choose?

I'm 25, French, currently living in Paris, France.

I also loved Perth and south western WA for its remoteness and the fact that it is far less crowded than the east coast. It's just the fact that it's all so exotic, different from home and still civilized (I mean accessible, people speak english, it isn't a dangerous destination, etc.) that made me love it I guess.

I'd choose Perth and if I don't like it I'd move to Brissie... or maybe Byron Bay or Noosa. Or Cairns. Hmm let me think, there's also a few other along the coast. I can't make up my mind. :D

Sydney is great! I lived there for 6 months while I did my internship. I looooved Darling Habour and 'The Rocks'. Sydney is really beautiful near the water and the boats look so nice.

I remember one day I went on a Ferry ride across the bay to visit the Zoo. It was really warm, but the cool sea air was lovely. The zoo is amazing, they have the best animal exhibits and I'm definately going to go back again, because I didn't get enought time to see everything.

My favourite place in Sydney is 'Shakespears Pies'. If you get a chance, you just have to find one and try their pies, they are packed full of 'real' food. I think they are homemade!

My other favourite place in Sydney is Broadway Shopping Centre, it certainly is just as the name suggests, a big entertainment venue. Shopping, movies, big bright lights. It is just opposite a great big park and near the Sydney University, so it is always active and there is always something to see and do.

Actually, my good friend is just starting to do her study at Sudney University. If you get a chance to visit it is a big old lovely univeristy with great old buildings and and amazing gardens. Hopefully one day I will get to study there, but if not, I might be able to visit my friend :)

Hey, I also have a friend in Canada who is French. Which part of France are you from?
