Since I live in Michigan, I took a ride up one weekend to Mackinaw Island. While it was fun, I wasn't very impressed. The surrounding town not on the island is actually the nicest part. They have lots of things to do, and great restuarants. But once you get on the island...(After shelling out a ton of money for the fairy), it isn't that great. The best part is riding bikes around the island. Other than that, there are just a bunch of historical things all around, which can be fun, but it is limited.

Isn't there some famous old victorian-style hotel up there? I can't recall the name, but I know that part of the old Christopher Reeve movie, "Somewhere in Time," was filmed there.
