Fishing is so relaxing and carefree, especially along the uncrowded places. You just sit there with a fishing rod and watch the sea (or river) moveand sway.
I've found fishing is a great relaxer and keeps me mentally healthy during the working week. You don't have to do a lot, just sit there relaxing your body and mind.
Of course, I never caught any fish before, except once :)
Anyone else also like fishing? Whats your reason for doing it? |

I live an hour from the Seto Inland Sea. Why fish?
1. Father-in-law has a boat.
2. It's fun to wait for the fish to bite while you're telling jokes and drinking beer.
3. Fish taste good. |

| In the Seto Inland Sea area, which is where I live, there's a kind of fish known in the local dialect as "mamakari". Just drop a line with a bunch of tiny hooks, no bait, in the water and in a minute or so you'll have fish! (The expression "mamakari" means to go to your neighbor and borrow rice, likening the act to the fish eagerly coming up to your hooks!). The fish is soaked in vinegar and is used to make sushi and is EXCELLENT! It is known as "sardinia" in Englsih & is a member of the sardine family. To show you how good a fisherman I am, mamakari is the only fish I've ever caught in Japan. Even my brother caught a big black snapper("chinu") when my father-in-law took us fishing in the Inland Sea one summer. Oh well, the beer-drinking was fun! |
