Bondi Beach is beautiful! I can understand why Princess Mary and Prince Fredrick fell in love in this at Bondi, it has the potential to be very romantic, especially in the summer evenings.

I love how once a year they have a huge Art exhibition along the beach walk. There is always something weird and wonderful to see. Some Art is interactive, while some is actually in the ocean, bizzare, but a treat!

You have to be careful though, as one day I was lying on the grass near the beach and I must have been there for too long, soaking up the sun and got burnt...ouch! not fun :?

If you do decide to go swimming, don't go out too far and Watch out for the Box Jelly fish, they can hurt...but generally it is pretty safe and fun. There is always something happening, music, people, cafes and of course the summer night life is grand. I want to go there now!

See ya!

I've heard that the Box Jellyfish come out- when is it- October? Please post the season, if you know. I have a National Geographic article on them which reports that if you come in contact with one it can cause horribly disfiguring scars and paralysis, even death.

:? yes, i think in extreme cases you might get very sick and die, but I think you would have to swim through a school of Boxed Jellies to have that happen, i think

They do hurt, but i am not sure when they come out exactly, but I do know that it is in summer! I will find out for you and come back and post the information for you.

In the meantime, watch out for the boxed jellies...lol

They are only in limited areas, (around The Great Barrier Reef?) aren't they? People who plan on diving/snorkeling when visiting Oz would probably be glad to get info on jellyfish season. I've been stung in Japan, but the jellyfish we have here are nothing compared to the Box jellyfish. A sting feels similar to a burn. It will leave lines on the parts of your body that the tentacles come in contact with. I hear ammonia neutralizes it and can relieve pain. If you've forgotten to take your bottle of ammonia to the beach with you( ) than you can pee on the sting(HONEST! There's ammonia in that, too!).

Dear David,

Boxed Jelly Fish are more famous for being seen along the Great Barrier Reef, which extends down the left coast of Australia from Queensland to NSW. So, it is important when swimming to make sure there are none in the area where you are swimming before going for a swim.

The Great Barrier Reef isa beautiful, but it can also be dangerous if you don't know where you are going, or what to be careful about. There are plenty of tour guide services and most of the main beaches have life guards.

My suggestion is that you stick to the main beaches and always listen to the local news to see if there are any warnings, as they usually have those on the radio. I will look for a more specific site on the web that will give those warnings and post it here, as I think it would be handy to have if you are planning to travel to Australia soon.

regards

Krystals
