You're not crazy! I always browse them, and usually buy a book or a magazine. The best airport shopping I've ever seen was at the new terminal where Singapore/Northwest/United are at Narita airport outside Tokyo. The prices are not all jacked up and they have every kind of souvenier from Japan that you could ever want: gourmet sake, bizzare Japanese candies and snack foods, pottery and ceramics, toys and electronics, and even pearl jewelry. And they've got a good Japanese noodle bar on the upper level that has nice udon. The only catch is that these stores are outside security, so if you're coming through on a connection there's not much to choose from.

Another great shopping airport is Pittsburg Pennsylvania. There's a whole shopping mall inside security, which is great if you have an hour or two to kill between flights.

The food options inside security at the Las Vegas airport are tops when it comes to comfort food. I can't leave there without going to that diner, or at least getting a Cinnabon. It's so bad for me but sooooo yummy.

Bangkok International has excellent shopping within security. My favorite things there are all the silk-covered wallets and keychains and lipstick cases. I got my dad a beautiful silk necktie there, and got weird snacks like fig-newton-like cookies filled with durian (of all things!!!!!).

The International terminal at Heathrow in London has some good stores, but the only one I regularly buy anything at is the Boots drugstore. In England you can buy ibuprofen with codeine without a perscription, so I always spend whatever pounds I have left over there while I'm waiting for my flight.[/i]

The best airport shopping, hands down, is Schipol Airport in The Netherlands. They have all the NEAT stuff you could possibly imagine, and then some! My faves: Leica cameras(1/2 off the prices in Japan!), ANY watches or jewlery, Lindt chocolate(Swiss), Cuban cigars, alcohol- which is cheap as long as you're not bringing it into the EU, etc. Almost everything imagineable(the above are just items I buy/like to look at)!

A close runner up is Chang-gi airport in Singapore! And it's NON-SMOKING!!! :D
