Hi all,

Just want to share my weekend holiday trip to this wonderful place, which is away from city life in midst of nature's lap. This place populary known as Ajanta and Ellora caves and designated as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Built in between 200BC to 650AD, these caves carry the glimpse of Hinduism, Buddism during that period and stands as man's greatest creation in history, and remained unnoticed. These caves were later discovered in 19th century by a British Officer who was on tiger hunt.

Ajanta caves: Numbering 29 caves on single hill stretching 2km in length, surrounded by full greenery..... these caves depict secluded life of buddist monks. The carvings, painting on wall of the caves depicts the story of buddha and his followers.

Full scale of Ajanta caves from other side of the mountain.

Waterfalls just beside the caves.

Ellora Caves : Just 100km away from Ajanta caves, these are must see. Totalling 34 caves, cave no.16 is an arcitechtural wonder - the kailash temple..... the entire structure is carved on single stone (monolith) and took one century to finish. And this is the biggest monolith in the world.

One side view of Kailash temple.

To visit this place, frequest buses are available from Mumbai and there is airlink to the near by city which is 100 km away from these sites.

I've more snaps of these places, if interested i'll post in here...
Shashi
