My friend goes to Helsinki in three weeks 8) ... Actually it's his first trip to Europe. So we both are very concerned about his journey. I know next to nothing about Finland though and was hoping for some advice from folks on ways to maximize his stay without breaking the bank.

Have you had your scandinavian trip yet, I wish you didn't miss the Finland Saunas. I spent a month to travel around Scandinavia when I was studied in a Denmark university 2 years ago. It's a good way to open your mind as well as to meet people:-)
Finland, with a population of around five million, has more than 2.5 million saunas, people there enjoy the extreme contrast between 180 celcius degree steam and icy cold: Finland Saunas |
