It's been a few years since I had the priveledge of visiting Germany, but the sights are engraved in my memory.

Does anyone have any favorite places there?

We started our trip in Rudesheim, locate on the Rhein in the middle of wine country, Rudesheim was beautiful even in late fall. From there we traveled across Germany and Austria, dipping into Switzerland a few times.

I think three of my favorite spots in Germany are Trier, Triberg and Rothenburg.

Trier, with its Roman ruins was very interesting. Actually Baths, the Roman ruins had a museum nearby with tons of cool artifacts. We stayed in a very modern hotel that for the life of me I can't recall the name. I wish I could. It reminded me of Clockwork Orange for some reason. All white and mimimalist. The rooms had names and nameplates outside in raised silver block lettering. Spiral stairs into a sunken area for drinks. Very nice.

Triberg is known for being the originator of the cuckoo clock, and for its falls. Of course, there are many places to get a cuckoo there, but we found the falls more interesting. It was snowing and the climb was steep but it was beautiful! The falls were mostly frozen and the step slippery, but it was still very cool.

Rothenburg in Bavaria is a walled city which still retains its medieval atmosphere. Cobblestone streets and classic architecture were just so intriguing. The old D&D fanatic in me was in heaven.
