While till January 07th, 2007 you will be able to visit an extraordinary exhibit dedicated to Leonardo at the Uffizi Gallery (The mind of Leonardo), you may want to know that there is a permanent exhibit of the interactive machines reproduced from Leonardo's codices. Visitors will see over 40 models of mechanical building, flying and war machines, exactly reproduced from Loenardo's codices (Atlantico, Madrid, Trivulziano, etc.). The machines have been made in wood, metal and fabric, on scale or life-size by qualified florentine artisans under expert engineers supervision.
What attracts most is the interactive characteristics of the machines: the visitor can actually touch and handle the models, seeing them working.
Over 40 explanations (one for each model), 10 illustrative panels, copies of the codices and 2 computers programming CD-Rom (free of charge) add further value to the scientific and cultural level of the exhibit.
You can find this exhibit at:
Via Cavour, 21 - Firenze (just a few steps from the Duomo)
Hours: 09,30 - 19,30 (all days)
Ticket fee: 5€ - reduced 4€ - school groups 2,50€ |
