Oh wow, London is my favorite city. You can go there again and again and again and always come up with new thing to see and do.

As a first-timer, I'd go for the most "classic" of sights: the Tower of London, the British Museum, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminister Abbey, sometimes you can get tours of the Houses of Parliment.

I've really been happy with following the suggestions on the frommers.com web site. They have self-guided walking tours that are really helpful for first-timers in a new place. Plus you can print out the tours for free off the internet.

There's a few things I wouldn't bother with if this were my first trip: the Buckingham Palace tour and also the Kensington Palace tour are not much to think about, although it is very much worth it to wander around Kensington Gardens so you might as well go to the Palace if you're there and not busy. I'd much rather spend the time, as a first timer, going out to Kew Gardens and the newly-opened Kew Palace instead.

I also wouldn't bother waiting on line for the London Eye. It's cool and all, but there are so many other things to see and do first. I'd also avoid silly stuff like Madame Tussad's wax museum.

I really liked madame tausads. Perhaps not culturally fulfilling but it was certainly a laugh. One recommendation. Try and book tickets for any attractions you go to. Alternatively. You can buy tickets for most attractions that save you queueing, from a small booth at the base of the london eye.

Really appreciate it
