Whenver I am on an extended vacation, or traveling in a developing nation, I never fail to take out an insurance policy. Who knows if you're going to come down with dengue fever and need to seek immediate treatment, fall down that cliff you've been scaling, or have that digicam get ripped off. On my last trip I not only had my passport liberated, but my baggage was man-handled so badly it was rendered useless(thugs at Air France). Fortunately, the policy covered theft and damages for these items and I was reimbursed for my losses. I have never had to make a claim in my more than 20 years of taking out such policies, but I'm glad I was covered this time 'round.
