I was doing some research online and some of the resorts that I saw, like Sandals looked exceptionally cool. The rooms and the amenities were so sweet that I wanted to sign up right there and then.
Then I talked to a coworker who just got back from his honeymoon at a Sandals in the Bahamas and he said it totally and utterly sucked. The stuff that was included was not available at times they wanted it - food, drinks, etc. The rooms were literally dirty and the help was rude and only responded to money.
Now, granted, this was the Bahamas, and I've been there a few times, and the sheer weight of the tourist industry there has turned everything into a cheap, grasping factory of 'get them in and ship them out'.
Where I was ressearching was Ocho Rios, Jamaica, which I'd heard very good things about.
Anyone with experience at a Sandals in Jamaica, whether Ocho Rios or Negri? |

I've heard that Negril is a little nicer.
Ocho Rios, the town, is nothing to be thrilled about. However, there are a couple of plantation houses and gardens in the area you can visit. The gardens can be amazing in that area, and are well worth the time to see. |
