As there have been several issues about taxi transfer from the airports of Rome (Fiumicino and Ciampino) to the city centre, the local administration has reached an agreement with taxi associations and fixed the tariff:

- Taxi from Fiumicino airport to anywhere in the centre of Rome (inside Aurelian Walls: the whole centre of Rome) = 40€

- Taxi from Ciampino airport to anywhere in the centre of Rome (inside Aurelian Walls, ecc...) = 30€

These new tariffs apply to all taxis licensed by local administration in Rome, which means almost all taxis available at both airports. There are only 37 taxis licensed by Fiumicino local administration and, for some reasons, they have another fixed price from Fiumicino airport to the centre of Rome = 60€. To make sure you board on the right (= cheapest) taxi, just check on the side of the car and see if there is the symbol of the Roman local administration http://www.zanzig.com/travel/rome-photos/dsc00835.jpg

Having said that, the best option to reach the centre of Rome from Fiumicino airport is by train: cheaper and faster.
