I wonder if you have seen any road signs that caught your attention, or if you know of any road signs where you live that cannot be seen anywhere else.

This road sign (seen above) did I see on Tenerife. It was taken by me from the bus I were travelling with. If I recall correctly could these type of road signs be seen after tunnels to remind the drivers to switch of the lights. These type of road signs can't be seen in Sweden since we are forced by law to always have the lights on. Most cars in Sweden have their lights switched on automatically when starting them.

This picture (seen above) did I take in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. I thought it was a little bit funny since I haven't seen it before. We don't have this kind of road sign in Sweden, but we have another type but that one is warning for children.

This picture (seen above) is from my drivers licence textbook. It is a Swedish road sign of a moose. Especially germans like these road sign and I have heard that some germans have taken them down illegally to bring them home as souvenirs. This road sign can nowadays be found in swedish tourist shops.

That is cool! Is it an animal on the bicycle, and does the animal-like symbol mean anything special or does it only mean "no bicycles"?

Is there anyone else who have any contributions to this thread? For example I'm shure that Australia have some eccentric road signs. (Kangaroos and more)

Actually, it's a bicycle with a cart attached to the front! If you visit Vietnam, you have to try one at least once! Slow as mollasses but another way to see a different part of the city on your way back from a day of sightseeing.

We have a "tanuki crossing" sign here(a tanuki is a huge raccoon-like mammal) so I'll see if I can find one of those. We need a sign in this area as I see tanukis hit by cars every now & then...

Yeah, on the freeway the other day, but I wasn't about to stop there!

Too bad... Sad
Be sure to take a picture of it if you see it at a better location. Smile

Saw an interesting one in the news last night-
It was a large yellow sign like normal roadsigns, yet with only a treble clef on it. The sign, on a stretch of road in rural Hokkaido, is to signify the special construction work the local companies did on the road. What they did is space some bumps on the road that creates "music"(a Japanese folk song) that can be heard as the tires of the car go over them at normal speed! I thought this was really cool and unique. The rationale for the music? One was to entertain drivers and two was to keep sleepy drivers from nodding off.

Really cool to design the road in such a way that it "plays" music when passing on it Exclamation Is there any recording from inside a car, so I can get an idea how it sounds Question

Don't know. Did a search on it on Yahoo Japan but couldn't find anything on it at all(not even a mention of those signs. Must be in a really remote area...)
